About My Art

I have been a Freelance Fine Artist since graduating highschool in 1982. I held down various odd jobs in my early years while pursuing my art including being a live-in nanny and waitress predominantly.

On May 12, 1992 I became a Freelance Fine Artist full-time! That is my “Start Date” Anniversary. Since then, I have pursued any and all art gigs I could employ myself to do. My May 12th, 1992 launch date was for the Baja Beach Club in Arlington, TX. I was employed on various wall mural duites for a couple of years even being flown to Miami, Florida to re-do ALL the walls in their Baja Beach Club in Miami. There was a sister club, The Tijuana Yacht Club on Greenville Ave. in Dallas where I did many wall murals throughout there, too. Also, I got my AUTOGRAPHED EDGAR WINTER, AUTOGRAPHED LEON RUSSELL, and AUTOGRAPHED STEVEN TYLER when these three acts came to the Baja Beach Club.

My wall murals can be found around the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex in homes, bars, restaurants, churches, schools, and libraries.

I branched into faux finishes for walls and furniture, too. I have done CEILING murals of skies….
I enjoy corporate gigs because of the great pay! I have done ongoing contract work for Doskcocil, now Petmate, Inc.

I also enjoyed a long running corporate gig with Aramark Foods producing chalk menu boards for various Starbucks locations in business dining throughout the metroplex.

I spent 4 years in the north bay area of California from 2004-2008, and each year I participated in the San Rafael Italian Street Painting event. When I returned to Arlington, TX this newly acquired pursuit brought me much work in Texas! I was told that I was the FIRST “SIDEWALK CHALK ARTIST” TO LIVE IN THE METROPLEX….since then, this gig has EXPANDED…..TO MANY ARTISTS DOING MANY FESTIVALS IN THE METROPLEX FOR “ITALIAN STREET PAINTING”…..but Texas, as usual, Americanizes the form to be termed SIDEWALK CHALK ART.

I am proficient in all Old School mediums of art: Graphite Pencil, Colored Pencil, Chalk Pastels, Charcoal, Colored Charcoal, Watercolors both translucent and opaque, Oils, and the “newest” form of Airbrush. I like to MIX mediums. I enjoy woodburning, too, after a Petmate gig called for it.

I enjoy SCULPTING very much and have sold a few pieces over the years including Petmate. I hope and intend to pursue more SCULPTING.

I confess that over the years, I have been asked, or it was required to make a resume’. I ALWAYS have a HARD time listing my own accolades….I can ALWAYS FIND SOMETHING BETTER TO DO!….

I suppose this has hurt me??? I hope not, but as they say, we are only as good as our last gig? ….

I have done portraits as retirement gifts for Paul Cavallini of the Dallas Stars Hockey team and even for a Sportscaster from a national news station and sadly, I cannot even recall which one? CBS? I think it was? NBC MAYBE!? The man’s famous on tv for decades…..

Some famous, happy owners of my art include the family of Willie “Big Eyes” Smith, the family of BB King, and the family of James Cotton. Al Green would not sign one of two pieces I had created unless Mike Morgan gave him one. One was supposed to be for Mike and the other for me. I did a beautiful charcoal of LouAnn Barton sitting on Muddy Water’s lap and she HAD TO HAVE IT!…..I call these “SURRENDERS”….I “surrendered” art to James Cotton, LouAnn Barton, and Engelbert Humperdinck….his wife was AILING…..

I have learned……just because God gave me my talent….doesn’t mean that ALL I do is for ME…..
I continue to produce portrait art for anyone wanting to commission a piece. I do animal portraits as well.
I continue to produce celebrity portraits and try to get them signed.

I continue to develop new merchandise as MERCHANDISING is my recent pursuit with this website. I have many ideas, concepts and designs I look forward to bringing to fruition and to make available here online for purchase.

I WELCOME YOU TO MY SITE. I THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST. I LOOK FORWARD TO ENRICHING THE LIVES OF MY CUSTOMERS WITH WHAT I HOPE AND PRAY IS A SOUND INVESTMENT IN ART OR JUST A PURCHASE FOR A LIFETIME OF ENJOYMENT.
